Mercurey Blanc Faiveley Domaine de la Croix Jacquelet
A supple, elegant wine with aromas of apricot and vanilla. The palate is very complex, combining mineral, dried fruit and hazelnut flavours, long and satisfying on the finish. Well-balanced with youthful acidity but not at all aggressive and finishes with a touch of oak.

2008 Mercurey, Domaine Sarrazin
Guy Sarrazin's house, in southern Burgundy's Jambles, is hard to miss. It's pink - a beacon to wandering Suffolk wine merchants. We homed in over 10 years ago, 300 years after the Sarrazins set up shop in verdant hillsides south of Givry. Guy's style arises from seriously restricted yields, resulting in pure, concentrated fruit.

Mercurey Domaine de la Croix Jacquelet Faiveley
Domaines Faiveley are one of Burgundys largest and arguably finest estates with many plots located in the finest sites of both the Cotes de Nuits and Cotes de Beaune. However just to the south in the Chalonnaise region they undoubtably hold court. This delicious red is made from Pinot Noir and displays fleshy cherry and blackcurrant flavours beautifully balanced with velvety smooth tannins and a hint of minerality.

2005 Mercurey 'Les Ormeaux', Domaine Maréchal
You'd think naming an appellation after a Roman god would give it a head start in the prestige stakes. But Mercurey struggles because it's south of the Côte de Beaune and dismissed by those who drink labels instead of wine. Since the '60s Jean Maréchal whose family has grown grapes here since 1570 has raised standards at his 10 hectare estate, making Burgundies genuinely worthy of respect.

La Vie en Blanc 2010
A tempting blend of old and new is what makes this wine so special. Most of the Domaines in the Southern French heartland this wine hails from have a vast winemaking history. Wine laws in this area however are more relaxed than in many other appellations, allowing winemakers to experiment a bit and craft some very special wines of real individuality and character. Winemakers Pierre Degroote and Richard Osbourne decided to utilise this to their advantage, and have created an unusual blend of Sauvignon...
